Best Practices:

Must be at least 12 characters in length.

Must contain a character from 3 of the following 4 character sets:

  • Lower case characters (e.g. a to z)
  • Upper case characters (e.g. A to Z)
  • Numeric digits (e.g. 0 to 9)
  • Character symbols (e.g. + = ( ) & % ! ? > <)

Passwords do nots:

  • Do not use the same password on multiple accounts. If one account is breached, the others will be at risk as well.
  • Do not write down your passwords.
  • Do not reveal your password with anyone.
  • Do not share your password with your supervisor, manager, partner, your children, your friends, etc.

Tips:

A trick for creating memorable passwords.

“I changed all my passwords to ‘incorrect’. So whenever I forget, it will tell me ‘Your password is incorrect.’ !!!”

You might find it easier to remember a sentence like “The first house in Lille, I rented €400 per month.”
You can turn that sentence into a password by using the first digits of each word, so your password would become TfhiL,Ir€4pm (The first house in Lille, I rented €400 per month).
